“And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. 28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.” Numbers 13:26-28
Moses sent the children of Israel out to spy out the land promised to them by God. They went out as instructed and came back with a good report of the land, but with a negative aspect: the people be strong that dwell there.
This negative thought out shadowed all the good things they saw in the land out, representing defeat for the children of Israel. Did they doubt the power of their God?
Today, we can have the same mindset as the children of Israel and it will hinder our forward movement in this battle.
There is nothing God cannot do. Absolutely nothing! We need to believe Him, obey Him, and trust Him in all things. We need to put on the whole armor of God – His righteousness – so we can stand against the wiles of the devil. We are only as strong as we think we are.
Victory begins in the mind. We must have the intense desire to overcome. God will work with us and help us if we have the determination to be victorious in the battle. It takes effort and fortitude to run in a race, especially a marathon. God will give us the help we need once we show Him we are determined to prevail.
We need to exercise of our will to win the battle for our souls.
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29
