About Me:
Milton P. Browne pastored Arverne Church of God in Far Rockaway, NY for 36 years.
Pastor Browne was born on the island of Nevis, West Indies where he gave his life to the Lord in 1958 at the age of 17. Two years later, he was called to the ministry and accepted this call with soberness and determination to do the work of the Lord. In 1962, he became engaged to Carmen Maudina Esau, and they were married on June 11, 1966.
Milton Browne’s ministry took him from Trinidad to pastor in Panama until 1970. Later that same year, he migrated to New York and served under Pastor William Aaron of the First Church of God on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City. He later became the pastor of Arverne Church of God.
In 1976, Bro. Browne became discontented with the direction the church was taking. He had gotten saved under a pure message of holiness, which he earnestly endeavored to uphold. It seemed as though the message of holiness was vanishing from the church. This was very disturbing to him, and he struggled with a decision to hold on or let go of his ministry. It was at this crossroad in his life, he received knowledge of deliverance from sin. He rejoiced in this revelation as it directly lined up with the teaching he had received at his conversion. With renewed boldness and strength, Pastor Browne took his stand for the truth of God’s word, which is the message of the church of God. He began to preach deliverance from sin and obedience to the Word of God.
During his ministry, Pastor Browne became engaged in many profound works. He became the founder and first administrator of the Church of God Christian Academy, operated the Church of God Nursery School and started a spiritual work in Jamaica, West Indies.
Pastor Browne was a man with a vision and a heart. His fervent dedication to the work of the Lord will always be remembered by the congregation and the Arverne community.
