“And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” Luke 22:40-44
We are not alone, although at times it feels so. God is with us, whatever we are going through. But God wants us to be surrendered to His will.
Jesus was totally submitted to the will of God, although he was in agony, fully understanding that he was about to suffer and die for the entire world. Crucifixion is a process of extreme suffering, very slow and very painful. Jesus willingly submitted himself to this agonizing suffering because of His love for us. We would never have the hope of heaven in our souls if Jesus did not die for us.
We also have to submit ourselves to the will of the Father. He always knows what is best.
Many of us our hindered in our walk by the many weights we carry. The weights are slowing us down and hindering the process of maturity in Christ. A successful Christian life cannot be lived with weights. We have to surrender to the will of God. Recognizing the weights and releasing them will allow us to find the true peace and joy God has for us in the life and in eternity.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” Romans 6:1-6
