“In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying. Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord‘s house should be built. Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.” Haggai 1:1-5
There is no greater experience on life than salvation, but you have to want it. You have to be tired of sin to receive it. You also have to want to keep it.
We must not allow Satan to shift our interest. He can easily distract us by the temporal things of this life. We can lose our focus and leave off the things of God to secure material things in this life. We are only on this earth for a short time. We should be building up our spiritual lives as this is what will secure us a home in heaven.
We have to have a fight in our souls to overcome sin, self, and worldliness. Let us not look around and think the work will get done by itself, or that it can be accomplished by others. We are all in this together, and we need to work together to get God’s work done.
Lets take a look at our motives. What are we on this earth to do? Is it not to build God’s kingdom?
God’s work supersedes everything. We need to realize this and take stock of what we are doing to help to accomplish this work. We must work according to the plan of God. We must produce what God wants us to produce. We must consider our ways and make sure our ways line up with His divine plan. Failure to do so will put us in darkness and out of His will.
God wants to bless us, but cannot do so if we are not given over to His will
Brethren, let’s take heed to God’s instructions so that we may prosper in Him!
“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” John 6:27
